Zoho Invests in Yali Aerospace to Transform Healthcare Delivery with VTOL Drones

Drones have become increasingly popular in various industries, and their potential in transforming healthcare delivery is now being realized. Zoho, a leading SaaS giant, has recently invested an undisclosed amount in Yali Aerospace, a Tamil Nadu-based drone startup. This investment aims to accelerate the development and deployment of Yali Aerospace's vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) drones.

Yali Aerospace, founded in 2022 by husband-wife duo Dinesh Baluraj and Anugraha, is focused on revolutionizing healthcare delivery, particularly in rural areas of India. They have developed VTOL drones that can transport critical medical commodities over long distances, such as organs, blood supplies, and essential medical items. This technology has the potential to bridge the gap between primary healthcare centers in rural areas and government hospitals in cities, ultimately reducing maternity deaths and fatalities from snake bites.

One of the key features of Yali Aerospace's current VTOL drone model is its impressive payload capacity of 7 kg and a range of up to 150 km per hour. These drones are designed to be highly efficient and reliable in delivering medical supplies to areas where traditional transportation methods are limited or inefficient. With the investment from Zoho, Yali Aerospace aims to make significant progress in its development and certification processes. The startup plans to start its first pilot project in September this year and obtain the necessary Type certification for its drone within the next two months. The support from Zoho will enable Yali Aerospace to ramp up its manufacturing capabilities and meet the regulatory requirements for commercial deployment.

Yali Aerospace is not only focused on transforming healthcare delivery in India but also exploring opportunities in other regions, including Africa. The startup is currently in talks for pilot projects that will further demonstrate the potential of their VTOL drones in improving healthcare access and delivery. This investment by Zoho is part of the company's efforts to diversify its offerings and support innovative startups. Earlier this year, Zoho launched Zakya, a business division aimed at assisting retail businesses with various tasks, including billing, accounting, and ecommerce.

By investing in Yali Aerospace, Zoho is not only supporting a promising startup but also contributing to the advancement of technology in the healthcare sector. India's drone market has been growing rapidly, with over 200 drone tech startups receiving more than $140 million in investment since 2014. It is projected to reach a size of $13 billion by 2030, with a compound annual growth rate of 21% between 2022 and 2030. Drones are increasingly being utilized in logistics, including healthcare and e-commerce, and Yali Aerospace is competing with other players in the market, such as Redwing Labs and Skye Air. In conclusion, the investment from Zoho in Yali Aerospace is a significant step towards transforming healthcare delivery in rural India.

The VTOL drones developed by Yali Aerospace have the potential to overcome logistical challenges and improve access to critical medical supplies. With Zoho's support, Yali Aerospace is poised to make a substantial impact in the healthcare sector, ultimately saving lives and improving healthcare outcomes.
